For my class you will need:

3 composition books, the kind with the sewn-in pages: (label one each- PROBE, CRITICAL THINKING, READING RESPONSE)

1 1-inch binder

3 dividers
(put these inside your binder: label one each- WRITING, SOCIAL STUDIES, ELA)

Loose notebook paper

Pencil

Colored pencils

Glue stick

Scissors

Things you will be graded on:

Classwork and participation

Multiple choice and open-ended assessments throughout the year

Projects- most of these will be done entirely in class

PROBE Research Notebooks (20 PROBEs due by May 1st)

Regular use of agenda

Homework (DUE EACH FRIDAY):
Each week you will read an article or watch something on TV (news, documentary, reality show, etc.) and respond to what you see.
In your composition book labeled "Critical Thinking" you will answer the following questions:
1. What did you read or watch? 1b.What is the source? (TV, newspaper, internet site, magazine, etc. GIVE SPECIFICS)
2. What was it about (brief summary)?
3. What do you think were the most important parts of what you watched or read?
4. Why do you think it was written/filmed?
5. What is your opinion on what you watched or read?
6. How could it have been made better?

EXTRA CREDIT:
* How could you take what you watched/read and put your own spin on it? (Examples: create a new format that tells the same information, expand on the information given to tell what should be reported on next, etc.)
* Add a visual to your response.
