About the Teacher

Nothing is better than waking up in the morning and knowing that I get to spend my day with kids!  Kids are funny, insightful, inquisitive, and the future leaders of our world.  I love my job and there's nothing else I would rather do!  This is my 13th year teaching, and I just know this year is going to be fabulous!

I grew up in Sarasota, Florida and came to Asheville in 2003 after graduating from Florida State University (Go Noles!).  I began teaching at Glen Arden Elementary and moved to C.T. Koontz Intermediate upon its opening in 2011.  I have been awarded the title of Teacher of the Year from Glen Arden Elementary in 2010 and also received my National Board Certification.  Last year, I became a graduate student with Appalachian State University's distance learning program.  I am studying Instructional Technology and plan to graduate with a Master's Degree in the near future.
I have the most amazing family!  I married the man of my dreams, John, in 2012 and gained a beautiful step-daughter, Taylor.  John and I welcomed our baby girl, London Elle, to the world in April of 2013.  She is an energetic and curious little girl!  We also share a home with our two dogs, Effie and King.  Our family loves to travel, laugh, and live the good life.  When I'm not in my classroom, I like to do yoga, bake, watch movies, and be a tech geek.
