    English Language Arts (ELA):

         We will watch a short documentary about scientific research in the rainforest of British Columbia.  We’ll then compare various informational texts we have read so far based on their main ideas, text features, and scientific vocabulary.  Ask your child about our current read aloud Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt!  This month, each student will be assessed individually for our middle of the year benchmark testing.  

    Science and Social Studies:  

    We will learn about cloud types and the weather associated with each type.  We  will spend the last part of the week and into next week discussing fronts and air masses.  We will finish A Long Walk to Water and take a small quiz on Wednesday.   We will be spending time learning about the New England Colonies this week.  


    Students have learned how to multiply a fraction by a whole number by using the visual representations of number lines and fraction bars. This week they will continue to deepen their multiplication of fractions knowledge by learning how to multiply a fraction by a mixed number, a mixed number by a mixed number, and a fraction by a fraction. We will be focusing a LOT on the use of visual representations to create meaning and understanding of what it happening in the computation.
