Hello C. T. Koontz family! I am so excited to be given the wonderful opportunity to teach 6th grade math and science! After obtaining my Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology with honors from the University of North Carolina at Asheville, I entered the teaching program in order to pursue a career educating and developing future leaders.

I am so excited to explore the wonders of the world around us with my students! I believe that I am their guide on our path of life-long learning and expect them to value the journey of discovery as much as I do.  I also feel it is important to explore mathematical concepts from a global, historical, and cultural perspective. As a student of social science, I am an enthusiastic devotee of the humanities as well as current events. In order to fully prepare my students for their future in the 21st Century I must create opportunities for them to explore and investigate with a focus on S.T.E.A.M. (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). Students retain knowledge to which they can make a personal connection. However, this means little without motivation, and I believe that this process should be fun!
