Welcome!  Fifth grade is an exciting and challenging year. Our class team is always busy, and you are welcome to drop by and join in. We are glad you are visiting our class website.
I earned my BS and MA degrees in education from Western Carolina University, and am a National Board Certified teacher. I have taught for twenty-eight years, twenty-six of those in fifth grade. I have a passion for teaching. I enjoy helping students understand math and science, and develop their love of learning. I try to be a lifelong learner, and my students certainly help in this process. I learn from them each day.
I have two wonderful, kind-hearted children. My daughter graduated from Western Carolina University's Honors College. She majored in Biology and Spanish. She currently attending the University of Georgia for a Master's degree in Landscape Architecture. My son graduated from NC State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. He is working in Raleigh. My husband retired after thirty-one years as an educator and could not stay retired.  He is currently working part time for Buncombe County Public Schools.  We have a sweet black lab named Faith, a horse named Truth, and a mule, yes a mule, named Skagit.
I love looking for unique finds at thrift shops, yard sales and antique stores. I enjoy searching for projects on Pinterest and then trying them out.
Your child is important to me. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns. Email ([email protected] ) is the best way to communicate with me, but you can also send notes or call the school office (828.684.1295). I will get back to you within 24 hours.
