Welcome to my team! I look forward to working with you and your child this year. My teaching experience began in 1996 as an assistant teacher, at which time I was attending Mars Hill College. I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education K-6 in 2001. After graduating, I was fortunate enough to advance my career at Estes gaining experience in second, third, and fifth grade. My career then led me to Koontz Intermediate in fifth grade through 2014-2015 school year. During this time I received my Masters in Educational Leadership and began working in sixth grade. I am very excited to continue growing in my profession as well as the opportunity to help prepare your child for the middle school.
Educational Philosophy: Each child is given the opportunity to be successful in a structured, respectful, and safe learning environment, enabling each student to reach their potential.
Classroom Environment: A team oriented approach where we learn and accept the differences of one another, build off of our strengths and become leaders utilizing the 7 Habits.
Sixth grade is a challenging year for students due to higher expectations, increased responsibility, as well as accountability, and preparing for middle school. Parent involvement is essential in order to help with a student's success. Please communicate daily with your child using Parent Portal, Canvas and review any papers sent home. Your support is greatly appreciated and the results will show in your child's progress at school.
Thank you for the opportunity of working with your child. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me by letter or email
