My Philosophy:
I believe that learning should be engaging, relevant, and, above all, fun!  When students leave my classroom, I hope they are leaders, readers, writers and have a desire to be life-long learners.
About me:
I have an 19-year-old daughter who is a graduate from TC Roberson, an amazing husband and lots of pets.  I love animals, books, positive people and being outside!

For Buncombe County Schools:
* This is my 15th year teaching, (my 6th year at Koontz), I have taught 3rd, 4th and 6th grades
 * I am currently the adviser of the National Junior Honor Society (our 2014-2015 project, "Veteran Appreciation", our 2015-2016 project, "Leading the Way with Kindness", and our 2017-2018 project, "Respect for All", were all selected for submission into the National Junior Honor Society Project Database!)
* I am a member of the ELA Leadership Team, the Buncombe County Literacy Team and the Global Committee
* In my career, I have served on the following committees: Math Team, Science Team, School Improvement Team, Graduation Initiative, Crisis Prevention, Hearing Board, Safe Schools, Hospitality, Lighthouse Team, Student Lighthouse Team, PTO Advisory, and Unity Team
* I have K-6 certification and 6-8 Language Arts certification, AIG Endorsement, a Masters in Education, a Bachelors in Psychology, and a Global Educator Digital Badge
* I was the 96.5 Teacher of the Month for May 2015

At UNC Asheville:

* I teach GRE and SAT preparation classes which I have taught for the last 13 years
* I spent two semesters as an adjunct professor of Social Studies Methods classes for future teachers
