Teacher Bio
Welcome to Spanish!
Bethany Larson

This is my first year teaching at Koontz Intermediate, and I couldn't be more excited! I plan to make language learning engaging through interactive activities to practice speaking, reading, writing, and listening en español! Some activities your child can start getting excited about: taking a virtual field trip to a Spanish-speaking country, writing pen-pal letters in Spanish, and música miércoles (Music Wednesdays.)
Education/Experience: I graduated from UNC-A in 2013 with my bachelor's degree in Spanish and my K-6 general education license. I am also licensed in K-12 Spanish and K-12 English as a Second Language. I worked in a kindergarten classroom my first year at Jones Elementary and taught Spanish to 7th and 8th graders last year at Erwin Middle. I am currently working on my master's degree in education with a concentration in English as a second language.
Family: I have been married for two years to my wonderful, incredible, and supportive husband, Tyler, who is a musician and graduated from Berklee College of Music in Boston. While I have always lived in NC (originally from Morganton, NC), my husband moved up and down the east coast with his family, because his dad was in the Navy. He spent most of his time in New England, and therefore is a major Red Sox and Patriots fan. (I will always be a Carolina girl...Go Panthers!) Tyler and I live in Asheville and do not have any children as of yet. :)
Interests: I love to run, read, and travel as much as I can! So far I have visited Costa Rica, England, and Mexico.
Contact: The best way to contact me is via email. Please do not hesitate if you have any questions or concerns throughout the year.
