graduated from Appalachian State University in 1991. After working for
10 years in Geographic Information Systems and Database Management, I
decided to pursue a career as a teacher. A few years ago I completed a
graduate degree in Instructional Technology at Appalachian. My wife,
Michelle, is a media center coordinator at Asheville High School.
is my fourth year at Koontz, but my 15th year teaching in Buncombe
County Schools. This is a great community, and we have energetic
students who teach me new things every day.
I feel very lucky
to be teaching Technology Skills, and to have a chance to share some of
the technical knowledge I was lucky enough to learn in my early career.
As a parent of young teenagers myself, I know how complex and challenging digital technology can be in our families.
Outside of school I love to spend time with my two children,
and Moriah. We love to hike, ride our bikes and explore the mountains.
We share our home with a cat, Yoda, and an African Fat Tailed gecko
