Wizard of Oz In Information sheet

The Koontz Spring Musical this year is the Wizard of Oz, Young Performers edition.  Performances will be May 4th - 6th.  All rehearsals will be after school, usually until 4:30 Monday, some Tuesdays and Wednesdays. We will not rehearse over Spring Break.  Rehearsals will start Monday, January 30 with a read thru for all cast members.

How do I audition?  You will sign up for a time outside Ms. Hilliard’s room starting January 9.

You must complete an audition form and it must be signed by a parent and a teacher.  The audition form will ask for all of your obligations Monday-Friday.  You must list all of these, including doctor’s appointments, sports practices, clubs, lessons, vacations and all other activities.   Most rehearsals will be on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesdays, but some roles will be asked to attend additional rehearsals.

Audition sign ups.- Auditions will be January 23rd and 24th after-school starting at 3:00p.m.

Sign ups will be in 15 minute increments for 5 people at a time.  You must sign-up in order to audition. You must have a ride home right after your audition time.

When you go into an audition remember it starts at the door. Be friendly and most importantly be prepared. Every student will sing the song selection (“Over the Rainbow)  one at a time with the music. Stand tall and sing out.  Then Ms. Hilliard will ask you to read from the sides (selections of the script).  We are looking for enthusiastic readers with expression and energy. The music is available on Mrs. Woppman's website. PRACTICE THIS!

If time you may also learn a quick dance step for the directors to see your dance ability.

We hope to announce the cast list on Friday, January 27  at 2:45 p.m.posted around school and on the Koontz website.

What can I do over the break to prepare for the audition?  Listen to the music on Mrs. Woppman’s website.  Practice the song.  Read through the available sides (lines), be very familiar with these and expressive.  You may asked to read several of these.

How do I apply for technical jobs (Crew)?  You will need to complete an application for a technical responsibility.  You will need to complete the questions about why you would like to work backstage and get a parent and teacher signature before it is turned in.  Applications are not due until January 30.  If you audition and do not get a role you may still turn in a form to work on crew.
