  1. Find a new book that you would like to share with the class.  It needs to be a book on YOUR independent reading level.  Begin reading it each night for at least 30 minutes.

  2. Create a visual (diorama, poster, mobile, box, bag, foldable, etc.--BE CREATIVE!) that includes ALL of  the following information written in complete sentences:


  1. Main Ideas-What is one of the main ideas in your book?  List at least 2 details that support the main idea you identified.

  2. Connections-What connections were you able to make between this book and other texts, topics explored, or experiences you have had?

  3. Structure-How is this book structured?  (chronological, compare/contrast, cause/effect, etc.)  How does the structure help you understand what you are reading?

  4. Genre-What is the genre of this book?  Do you enjoy this genre?  Explain.

  5. Recommendation-Would you recommend this book and/or this author to someone else?  Explain.

  6. Words-List at least three words from your book that have the same prefix.  What does the prefix mean?  What do the words mean?

  7. Readability-Is your book too hard, too easy, or just right?  Explain.

  8. Interest-Do you find this book interesting?  Explain.

  9. What qualities will you look for in the next book you read?  (same author, different genre, more visual elements, etc.)

     

     3.  On Friday 2/24 you will present your book by:


  1. Reading aloud your favorite paragraph or page.  Practice reading it with expression, a loud voice, and appropriate eye contact.


  1. Presenting your visual and explaining three of the above categories of information.
