A little about me....
I am starting my 10th year as a School Counselor in Buncombe County.
I have worked at several schools:  Estes Elementary, North Buncombe
Elementary, Glen Arden Elementary, and now ~ Koontz Intermediate.
I have experience as a high school teacher and coach (Varsity Girls and
Boys Tennis, Varsity Girls Basketball and even Soccer Club) for the first 8+
years of my 18+ year career in education.  I have enjoyed my time at
Koontz and look forward to working with the 5th graders this year!
I earned my Bachelors Degree from Western Carolina University
(BSEd in Physical Education K-12) and my Masters Degree from
Eastern Kentucky University (MAEd in School Counseling K-12).
Doing my part to help your child develop socially, emotionally, academically
with a strong focus on career and college preparation is what I do.
I am excited about our journey as a Leader In Me school.
My door is always open to our families, our community and most
especially our students.

A Few of my Favorite Things:

Discipline That Teaches Kids To CARE

Michele Borba has some great ideas and thoughts about ways to talk to our kids in a different approach.

Bullying Prevention and Intervention

Buncombe County has a policy regarding bullying you should be aware exist! Check it out on the Buncombe County Website.

Former First Lady Michelle Obama speaks at ASCA 2014

Former First Lady #reachhigher has been an inspiration to thousands of School Counselors when she spoke at our annual conference in 2014 on Disney World's Campus. It not only inspired me, but it challenged me as well to do all that I can to touch the lives of our students while we have them.

Here is the link to the video. I will continue to keep this on my site. Inspired by her!
