SCHOOL UNIFORMS

The Buncombe County School Board approved school uniforms for Koontz Intermediate. This was done with the understanding that being a pilot program for two years (2015-16, 2016-17), this will provide the school time to adjust to the needs of the school.

1.  Why uniforms?

Our goal is to ‘level the playing field’ so students can focus on academics, leadership opportunities, preparation for middle school and beyond.

2.  Why Lands’ End?
  •       They have over 30 different sizes with Fit specialists to help you.
  •       They have a terrific return policy. It states, “If you’re not satisfied with any item, simply return it to us at any time for an exchange or refund of its purchase price.” Even if the item has been embroidered, washed, torn, or worn it can always be  returned. Guaranteed. Period.”
  • ·     Lands’ End has more frequent sales and promotions throughout the year than other big box stores.

 3.  What will happen if we don’t wear the approved school uniform?

We will first check in The Rams’ Rack to see if we have some clothing available for the student to wear that day. If not, we will have the student call home for the article of clothing needed.

WE ARE UNIQUE: 3 DIVERSE SCHOOL COMMUNITIES MERGE INTO

CHARLES T. KOONTZ INTERMEDIATE

Belief Statement: Identical clothing unites the school community, reduces distractions and creates a professional environment free from competition and peer judgment.

5 Positive Things about School Uniforms:

  1. Takes peer pressure off students to wear the latest top-of-the-line, brand-name clothing.
  1. No drama in the morning trying to figure out what to wear.
  1. Individuality is not lost. 5th & 6th graders actually want to dress alike rather than different. Students can show their individuality by their jewelry, tights, belts, shoes, shoelaces, socks, and hair! We will have spirit days or reward days where students can dress up. Remember Spirit Week?
  1. Uniforms will cost less than clothes you’ll want to have to meet the latest fashion criteria.
    5. Increases a sense of belonging and school pride – an example being                    students already wear the same  t-shirt on field trips.
